With its uncompromising flagship-grade processor, the iPhone SE looked unbeatable in the mid-range segment, but a new smartphone now looks set to smash Apple’s entry-level smartphone in one important area.

In an official Instagram post, OnePlus has today confirmed that the company’s first-ever mid-range handset, the Nord, will ship with dual selfie cameras offering a maximum 105-degree ultra-wide field of view. This ultra-wide front camera enables you to fit more people into group selfies and to capture much more of the background in solo shots without the need for a selfie stick.
The iPhone SE, on the other hand, makes it more difficult to capture shots like these than other current iPhones. This is because Apple’s entry-level model comes with a 32mm-equivalent selfie camera that frames a significantly tighter shot than the 23mm-equivalent lenses featured in the iPhone 11 range.
Based on the specs released today, the OnePlus Nord front camera should be able to shoot well over twice as wide as the iPhone SE and significantly wider than the iPhone 11 line-up too.
Other previously leaked OnePlus Nord photo features include a quad main camera setup, featuring a 48-megapixel main sensor along with 8-megapixel ultra-wide, 5-megapixel macro and 2-megapixel ‘portrait’ modules. While the Nord’s expected Snapdragon 765G is no match for the iPhone SE’s Apple A13 Bionic chipset, OnePlus certainly seems to have the upper hand when it comes to camera features.
Features alone are, of course, no guarantee of quality, but all will be revealed on July 21 in OnePlus’s promised AR-based product launch.
