Každý rok National Geographic prezentuje a oceňuje talentovaných fotografov z celého sveta prostredníctvom fotografickej súťaže National Geographic Travel Photo. S mottom „pomôž nám preskúmať a zažiť svet prostredníctvom svojich ciest“ oslovili organizátori talentovaných fotografov aj tento ročník. Každá snímka predstavuje úchvatný moment na rôznych miestach našej planéty. Súťaž je rozdelená do troch kategórií príroda, mestá a ľudia – „snímky rozprávajú príbehy miest, ukazujú
prírodu, alebo zdieľajú vízie ľudí z celého sveta“. Tento rok bola budú víťazné fotografie známe už tento mesiac. Výherca hlavnej ceny získa $ 7.500 a víťazná snímka bude bude publikovaná na Instagrame @natgeotravel.
