Motorola One Vision leak reveals specs, hints at very tall display

In the past, Motorola has remained loyal to Qualcomm and its wide range of processors, but this Samsung chip should prove to be pretty decent. In fact, it's comparable to the Snapdragon 660 and was recently used inside the Galaxy A50.

Joining the Samsung processor will apparently be a minimum of 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. However, if this isn’t impressive enough, variants with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage should be available too.

Like all other Android One smartphones, the Motorola One Vision should ship with stock Android 9 Pie straight out of the box. It’ll also include a 3,500mAh battery, which is 500mAh larger than the cell found inside the Motorola One.

The Motorola One Vision is believed to be the international variant of the Motorola P40 that leaked out some months ago. This could be wrong, but if it proves correct the One Vision should be Motorola’s first smartphone to adopt a camera cutout. 

XDA Developers wasn’t able to get ahold of detailed display information, but the leaked CAD-based renders points towards a tall 6.2-inch panel. Moreover, a wallpaper for the phone suggests a 2520×1080p resolution is on the cards which, if true, means the One Vision will adopt the tall 21:9 aspect ratio seen recently on Sony’s smartphones.

The presence of this is backed up by the Motorola One Vision’s dimensions. According to leaked information, this new device will be a considerable 10.2mm taller than last year’s Motorola One, despite a display size difference of just 0.3-inches. Last year’s smartphone is also 1mm wider.

48-megapixel rear camera and a headphone jack

The rear of the One Vision should be home to a fingerprint scanner embedded within the Motorola logo and a vertically-aligned dual-camera setup in the top corner accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash. The primary sensor will apparently be marketed as a 48-megapixel camera but will default to 12-megapixel photos. The resolution of the second rear camera and selfie snapper, on the other hand, remain a mystery.

To accompany the new cameras, Motorola is said to be working on two new features. The first is called ‘Long Exposure’ and should act as some kind of Night Mode for low-light photography. The other one is called ‘3D HDR,’ but its functionality is unclear. 

 
Other external features include a bottom-firing speaker, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on top of the device.

Motorola One Vision price, release date, availability

The Motorola One Vision should be sold in Europe, Latin America, and China. Also, considering the Motorola One can be purchased in the market, a launch in the US is highly likely.

At the moment, it’s unclear how Motorola will choose to price this device once launched. But with the Motorola One currently retailing for $399.99 in the US, the company will probably target the $450 price point. Alternatively, it could be sold for $399.99 again and the Motorola One’s pricing could be lowered in the process to remain competitive.

Presumably, the Motorola One Vision will be announced sometime next quarter, perhaps alongside the upcoming Motorola Moto Z4. The Android One smartphone should be available in both Blue and Gold.
