The changes that Greece has proposed for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are crucial for the survival of farmers, Minister of Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis, said on Monday at the 5th meeting of EUMED9, which preceded the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries of the EU, in Luxembourg.

Among these proposals, according to the responsible minister, is Greece's firm position that climate crises should be dealt with collectively but also the balance between environmental demands and agricultural production.

The competent minister pointed out that Greece supports the proposal to allocate 2% of the CAP budget to deal with climate crises, but also to increase the flexibility that member states are allowed to modify their strategic plans as well as the simplification of ecological schemes so that to facilitate their implementation by producers.
